We are part of The Alliance church movement that began more than 100 years ago, as the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Rather than just a denomination intent on building its own kingdom, we're a people who "go" to reach the lost for Christ.
We believe that Jesus is our Savior, Sanctifier, Healer, and Coming King. He gave His all for us; and as those who bear his light, we are compelled to shine everywhere we go. If you'd like to learn more about the Alliance movement, click here.
We want to exalt Christ in every aspect of our lives; through every thought, word, step, and breath we seek to glorify Jesus.
We imitate Deuteronomy 6:4 in that children learn to follow Christ most effectively by seeing it modeled by their parents. Therefore, we purposefully keep our kids close to us as we serve and worship. We also provide opportunities for families to serve together and endeavor to equip parents to model a God-filled life outside of the Church.
We believe that the greatest measure of our success as a Church is that our children are actively serving Christ and preparing to pass the spiritual baton to the next generation. This means doing ministry with our children and mentoring them in the gospel.
We want everyone to know what Jesus did when he died on the cross...and it is our joy to share the good news with those in our community and throughout the world.
New Hope began in 1995...
Pastor Todd Stroud, his wife BJ, and their four little girls moved to Hagerstown with the task of planting a Church. The Alliance believed that the momentum of a new church would help to spread the gospel.
After a few months of holding a home bible study, they held their first public church service with 40 people. In 2003, they were blessed with their own space - a beautiful church building in Williamsport, Maryland.
Over the years our church body has grown and changed. But our goal has been the same since day one. We want to reach out and love the lost.
Since moving to Hagerstown, the Strouds added four more children to their family for a total of eight! Their ages now range from 11 to 26 and each one loves Christ and actively serves him.
Whether you've been going to Church all your life and don't presently have a church home, or you just aren't sure what church is all about, we invite you and your family to join us. The atmosphere is casual, so don't worry about what to wear. Come and experience the body of Christ at New Hope!
Each week we begin at 10:30 AM with a time of worship. The music is an eclectic mix of hymns and contemporary worship songs that are creatively put together by the worship team. We continue our worship through a time of community prayer. Pastor Todd Stroud then shares the message.
"For My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples" (Isaiah 56:7, NASB). Join us each Tuesday at 6:30 PM for a time of prayer and fellowship.
We have found that the most effective way to evangelize is through one-on-one relationships. Our goal is to live life with the people in our community and show them the love of Christ.
